“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17).
Many men carry their battles alone. They show up to work, to church and to family gatherings, but no one really knows what they are facing. Isolation is one of the enemy’s favourite strategies, because a man standing alone is far easier to bring down.
Strength in numbers
Ecclesiastes 4:12 says a threefold cord is not quickly broken. David had Jonathan. Moses had Aaron and Hur holding up his arms when he grew tired. Even Jesus called twelve men to walk closely with Him.
What real brotherhood looks like
- Honesty. Brothers tell each other the truth, even when it is hard to hear.
- Prayer. They fight for one another on their knees.
- Accountability. They ask the difficult questions and expect real answers.
- Encouragement. They remind each other of who God says they are.
Take one step this week
Reach out to one man you trust. Invite him for a meal, a walk or a call, and pray together before you part. Revival spreads through relationships, and a small circle of committed men can shake a city.
