Faith in the Marketplace: Leading with Integrity at Work

Most men spend more waking hours at work than anywhere else. That makes the marketplace one of the most important mission fields there is. God did not call you to leave your faith at the door; He called you to carry His Kingdom through it.

Joseph and Daniel: marketplace generals

Joseph managed Egypt’s economy. Daniel served in the government of Babylon. Both were known for excellence, integrity and wisdom, and both influenced nations because they were faithful where God placed them.

Marks of a Kingdom worker

  • Integrity. Honest in the small things, even when no one is watching (Luke 16:10).
  • Excellence. “Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord” (Colossians 3:23).
  • Humility. Treat everyone with respect, from the cleaner to the CEO.
  • Light. Be ready to share the reason for the hope you have (1 Peter 3:15).

This week’s challenge

Pray for your colleagues by name. Do one task with extra excellence as an act of worship. Look for one opportunity to encourage someone. Small acts of faithfulness are how territories are won.
