Pastor Jimmy Odukoya has publicly introduced his wife to his congregation, presenting her as the new First Lady and describing their union as a significant moment in his life.
While addressing the congregation, Odukoya reflected on how he had been navigating life and ministry alone since becoming their pastor, referencing the biblical account of Adam and God’s declaration that it was not good for man to be alone. He explained that he had been searching for someone suitable, drawing from the moment Adam saw Eve and recognised her as part of himself.
“So, ever since I became your pastor, I was doing this walk of life alone. And you know, the Bible says it’s not good. He said, ‘I will find somebody suitable,’” he said.
“I Was Looking and Searching, and I Found”
Odukoya went on to describe the importance of recognising the right moment to take action, introducing the concept of a kairos moment, which refers to an opportune or appointed time. He encouraged the congregation to recognise such moments and respond when they arrive. “There is what we call kairos moments. You see, a kairos moment, when a kairos moment… You have to move. Somebody say now, now, now, now,” he declared.
“Is It Artwork? Is It a Bird? Is It a Plane? No, It’s My Wife!”
The pastor also referred to social media posts that had generated curiosity among people, with some wondering what the images represented. He humorously addressed the speculation before revealing that the subject of the posts was his wife.
“So I’m sure some of you saw the posts. Did you see the post? Some people were saying, ‘Is it artwork? Is it a bird? Is it a plane?’ No, no, no. It’s my wife,” he said. He then formally presented her to the congregation.
“Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce to you for the first time, Mrs., well, Pastor Mrs. Odukoya, and your First Lady and my wife,” he announced. The introduction was a public moment of celebration as Odukoya welcomed his wife and presented her to the church as its First Lady.
