“You Can Get Married With ₦150,000 Monthly Salary”: Pastor Daniel Olawande Tells Singles

Pastor Daniel Olawande has encouraged singles believing God for marriage not to allow their financial situation or expectations of a luxurious lifestyle to stop them from taking steps towards marriage. Speaking to those trusting God for marital settlement, the preacher encouraged them to start with what they have and grow from there, stressing that people do not need to have everything in place before getting married. “My sister, you can! You can!” he told the congregation as he addressed the concerns of those who might feel they are not financially ready for marriage.

“Start Small and Grow Big”

Pastor Olawande used his own experience to explain why people should not assume they must have everything before getting married. He asked the congregation, “How much was I getting when I got married?” before emphasising that he did not have everything at the time.

“See, now, what I’m saying to you is that you might not have everything. Start small and grow big,” he said. He challenged the mindset of those who want to begin married life with an expensive lifestyle, specifically mentioning Lekki Phase One as an example. “You are the one that wants to live in Lekki Phase One,” he said, urging singles to be realistic about what they can afford at the beginning of their marital journey.

He then declared, “Cut your coat according to your cloth!” drawing cheers and applause from the congregation. Repeating his point, he said, “Start small and grow big.”

“Did You Hear Anybody Talking About Contribution?”

Pastor Olawande also spoke about the role of contribution and shared responsibility in building a home. “Did you hear anybody talking about contribution?” he asked the congregation. He went on to reveal that he and his wife also contribute, saying, “Me, your pastor, I’m doing contribution. My wife, she is doing contribution.”

His comments highlighted the importance of both partners contributing towards their shared responsibilities instead of placing the entire financial burden on one person.

A Message to Those Believing God for Marital Settlement

Pastor Olawande’s message encouraged singles not to allow the desire for an expensive home or a particular standard of living to become an obstacle to marriage. His central advice was straightforward: people may not have everything they desire at the beginning, but they can start with what they have and build together over time. By using his own experience and that of his wife, he encouraged those believing God for marriage to consider a practical approach to starting a family, managing expectations and growing financially as a couple.
