“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up” (Psalm 5:3).
The first voice you hear each morning often sets the tone for the whole day. If it is the news, your inbox or social media, your mind is already racing before your feet touch the floor. If it is the voice of God, you walk into the day anchored.
A simple 15-minute rhythm
- Be still (2 minutes). Sit quietly and invite the Holy Spirit to speak.
- Read (5 minutes). Take one short passage. The Psalms and the Gospels are great places to start.
- Reflect (3 minutes). Ask: What does this show me about God? What is He asking of me today?
- Pray (5 minutes). Thank Him, surrender your plans and pray for your family and those you will meet.
Carry one word with you
Before you leave, pick one phrase from what you read and carry it through the day. Write it down, set it as your phone wallpaper, or repeat it on your commute. Let it be your weapon when pressure comes.
Jesus often rose early to pray (Mark 1:35). If the Son of God needed that time with the Father, how much more do we?
