Elijah was one of the greatest prophets in Israel’s history, yet one of his most important acts was choosing Elisha and pouring into him. When Elijah was taken up, his mantle fell to a young man who went on to do even more (2 Kings 2).
Success without a successor is incomplete
Kingdom leadership is measured not only by what we build, but by who we build. Paul told Timothy to commit what he had learned “to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2). That is four generations in one verse.
How to begin mentoring
- Look around. Is there a younger man at church, work or in your family who needs guidance?
- Invite him in. Mentorship often happens in ordinary moments: a meal, a drive, a project done together.
- Share your failures, not just your wins. Honesty gives younger men permission to grow.
- Point him to Christ. The goal is not to make him like you, but to help him follow Jesus.
Leave a legacy of Generals
Our vision is to see a generation of men rise as Generals and Commanders for God. That happens one relationship at a time, as older men pass the mantle to younger ones. Who will you pour into?
