Leading at Home: The Father as Priest, Protector and Provider

Before a man leads in the boardroom, the pulpit or the public square, he is called to lead at home. Your family is your first territory, and it is where your leadership is most tested and most needed.

The father as priest

Like Job, who rose early to pray for his children (Job 1:5), a godly father stands before God on behalf of his household. He prays with his family, opens the Word with them and makes worship a normal part of home life.

The father as protector

Protection is more than locking the doors at night. It means guarding what enters your home through screens and conversations, and covering your family with prayer and presence. Your children feel safer because you are paying attention.

The father as provider

Providing food and shelter matters, but a father also provides identity, affirmation and direction. Children who hear “I am proud of you” and “God has a plan for you” grow up with roots that storms cannot pull out.

Start small, start now

  • Pray over your children by name every day.
  • Share one verse at the dinner table this week.
  • Ask your wife, “How can I lead you better?” and listen.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15). Revival in the nation begins with revival at home.
